Mr H.J. Moraal MPA
Biography
Han Moraal (1956) has in 2007 been appointed as procurator-general and member of the Board of procurators-general, the national management of the Dutch public prosecution service. Before that, he fulfilled different positions within the public prosecution service: public prosecutor, acting chief prosecutor for the province of Flevoland, chief prosecutor of the city of Groningen and next, of The Hague.
As prosecutor-general he is responsible for the core business of the public prosecution service: operations. His portfolio also encompasses enforcement of judicial verdicts, victim support service, youth, traffic, international cooperation and the struggle against domestic violence, sex crimes and discrimination. Furthermore Mr Moraal is responsible for the relations with several partners of the public prosecution service, such as the courts, the probation service and the municipalities.
Mr Moraal studied Dutch law (with penal law as main discipline) at the University of Utrecht. He also took a master in public administration at the Netherlands School for Public Administration.
