Based on a real demo that GOVCERT.NL delivers to customers in order to raise awareness, this movie highlights various threats that exist on the internet.

About the movie
Using the activities of the various family members, this movie shows how easy it is to end up in unwanted situations.

Installing software or anti-virus updates? "I'll get around to that tomorrow". Lowering your security settings? "It's more convenient or faster." These are examples of decisions made in a split second that may make it very easy for outsiders to gain access to your computer.

This movie revolves around the Stevens' family. In many ways an average family with average computer habits. Dad has his surgery at home and maintains all his patients' files on his computer. Very handy, but what if the files end up in the wrong hands?

Mom is a busy communications advisor and likes to work out. She shops online to save time, but one day a large sum of money is deducted from her account!

Dave is an active gamer. He just bought a new game and installed it on his computer. But, his serial number is already in use by someone else, how come?

Megan downloads lots of music and loves to chat, with her friends and of course her boyfriend. But the horror: someone's been reading her personal conversations!

About the demo
This movie is based on a real demo that GOVCERT.NL offers to its customers to raise awareness. The demo consists of three virtual machines: one for the victim, one for the attacker and one web and irc server.

In the demo, we demonstrate that it's very easy to lure someone into visiting a malicious website. Our malicious website looks like the announcement of a medical conference. In reality, one of the pages contains an exploit for a browser. The exploit (for a vulnerability described in MS05-038 in this case) installs a bot (RDbot). Following the infection, we demonstrate the functionality of the bot, and how these functionalities may be used to send spam, perform click fraud etc.
