GOVCERT.NL
GOVCERT.NL is the Computer Emergency Response Team for the Dutch Government. Since June 5 2002 we support the government in preventing and dealing with ICT-related security incidents. Our main tasks:

GOVCERT.NL co-ordinates
We act as the central emergency point dealing with ICT-related security incidents, such as computer viruses, hacking and vulnerabilities in applications and hardware.

GOVCERT.NL informs
We provide the right information to appropriate parties, at the right moment.

GOVCERT.NL supports
We assist government officials in preventing security incidents and, if necessary, responding appropriately.

PRODUCTS
We focus on three main areas: prevention, knowledge exchange and incident handling. Within these areas, we offer a range of services.

International exchange of knowledge
ICT security does not stop at the border. In order to keep up the quality of our services, GOVCERT.NL deems it important to co-operate and exchange information on an international level. That is why we are part of an extensive international network.

Data bank
GOVCERT. NL is an information centre. It provides participants access to the knowledge and experience of our staff and organizations partaking. Furthermore, we encourage the exchange of information amongst these organizations. Our data bank facilitates exchange by means of mailing lists, an archive of relevant documents and best practices.

Participant panel discussion
We organize regular meetings to give participants the opportunity to exchange knowledge and ideas on current affairs.

Assistance in case of incidents
We offer assistance to participants in dealing with all sorts of incidents, ranging from spam mail to large scale network attacks. We are available 24/7.

Co-ordination
GOVCERT.NL keeps a close watch on incident reports by non-participating organizations. If relevant, we make sure that our participants are provided with such information immediately. Furthermore, the parties involved can communicate via us, or directly with each other.

INTERNATIONAL PARTNERSHIPS
GOVCERT.NL is part of an extensive network of affiliated organizations, mainly other Computer Emergency Response Teams (CERTs). Since this network is a vital information hub, we find it is just as important to make our expertise available to other teams as it is to benefit from the knowledge of the international CERT community.

Our aim is to achieve maximum results with minimum means, and international collaboration is one way to realize this. That is why GOVCERT.NL encourages the development of shared standards and specialization in different areas. Our primary joint ventures:

EGC – European Governmental CERTs, in which GOVCERT.NL holds a prominent position
FIRST – Forum of Incident Response and Security Teams, which consists of 150 CERTs worldwide
TERENA – Trans-European Research and Education Networks Association, lobby of European national academic networks
I4 – International Information Integrity Institute, a co-operative in the field of security, including private sector participants
ISF – Information Security Forum, a co-operative in the field of security consisting of various international organizations
