Drinking from the Firehose Wednesday 17 September, 14:35 - 15:20, Leeuwen RoomIn large or distributed computing environments, you often don't have the access to individual computers or to the support staff that you would like to have, but at the same time you are responsible for making sure that they are secure and the information is safe. Given limited information and limited access to the endpoint, how can you determine if a specific computer presents a potential security risk?
This presentation is focused on tools that can give the greatest amount of operational awareness of what is happening on your network with the least amount of hassle to maintain. While not a perfect solution, information obtained by watching network traffic can tell you a great deal about what is happening on the individual computer and can help determine if further investigation is warranted.
