Elly van den Heuvel has held the position of General Manager at GOVCERT.NL since 1 March 2008. She transferred to GOVCERT.NL after a career spanning more than twenty years at the Ministry of Justice. Van den Heuvel occupied various positions at the Ministry of Justice. As Head of ICT of the Operational Management and Management Support Department of the Ministry of Justice, as well as being deputy director, Van den Heuvel was responsible for the development of the long-range policy within the field of ICT. In the past, Van den Heuvel had been responsible for setting up a European Documentation and Research Network within the context of the fight against organised crime. At GOVCERT.NL, she will first of all focus on the development of the long-range policy, which will include the strategy for the coming 5 years. This strategy will be determined in close collaboration with partners, stakeholders and other interested parties. Van den Heuvel shall focus on strengthening existing (inter)national joint ventures and entering into new relevant joint ventures. In addition, she attaches considerable value to the further professionalisation of the fight against cybercrime in its entirety. Van den Heuvel graduated from the HEAO (School for Higher Education in Business and Administration) Commercial Economy in 1992, in the field of Communication Management. Three years later, she graduated from the University of Leiden, in the field of Education Science & Adult Education.
