Marcel van den Berg has a long history in cyber crime fighting. In 1994 he joined the Dutch police force and worked at the Dutch High Tech Crime center of the Dutch National police. In 2007 he joined the Dutch telecom regulator OPTA in their task to investigate spyware. In 2008 he became part of Team Cymru, a specialized and influential Internet security research group co-operating behind the scene with the major international crime fighters. At Team Cymru Marcel is now employed as an investigator and developer.
Visualizing badness Wednesday 17 September, 13:40 - 14:25, Diamond RoomWith the evolution of botnets and new forms of command and control structures, there is also a need for different ways to visualize badness. In this presentation, Marcel will prove that, when trying to grasp new botnet developments, a picture is worth a thousand words. He will use various visualization techniques to explain the latest state of affairs in botnets and show actual case studies. In order to provide additional practical value to the audience, Marcel will share his methods and sources of visualization as much as possible.
